Prior
to proceeding, pause to listen. Listen to the unborn child's cry in a poem written by Stacie Ruth Stoelting:
I was not born,
Nor
shall I be.
My mommy chose
To
murder me.
I craved a cradle;
To be set free.
But I’m
not able.
Mommy killed me.
They call me “it.”
They
call it choice.
I wanted life.
Please!
Be my voice.

Rather recently, Amazing Grace came out on DVD. This
outstanding film found praise from liberals and conservatives alike. Why? It focused on humanity and its desire
for life. Amazing Grace’s portrayal of William Wilberforce and his fight to end England’s slave trade
should motivate Americans. Our modern-day abolition issue is abortion. During the 1800s, slavery was an intense social conflict
in the United States. Today, abortion ignites passionate social debate. Unite the USA believes that abortion
is wrong; it supports the unborn child’s right to life.
Let's return to the basics:
Abortion
kills a baby. By definition, abortion is the medical or surgical removal of an embryo or fetus (unborn child)
from the uterus. Without question, it is scientifically proven that life begins at conception. Professor Hymie Gordon
of the Mayo Clinic states, "By all the criteria of modern molecular biology, life is present from the moment of conception."
With the clear knowledge that life begins at conception, abortion snuffs human life.
Abortion involves medical
procedures that invade a woman's body by medicine, manual vacuum aspiration, sharpened tools, etc. The
majority of abortions occur before the twelfth week of pregnancy. Abortion is completed by various methods such as the use
of sharpened tools, abdominal pressure, and medicine. The most common form of abortion is by manual vacuum aspiration (which
is suction-aspiration or vacuum abortion). Manual vacuum aspiration removes the fetus or embryo by suction using a manual
syringe, while electric vacuum aspiration abortion uses an electric pump. Such procedures inhumanely end the lives of unborn
children.
Abortion kills millions of Americans. In 2005, approximately 1.21 million abortions were executed in
America. In 2003, 43 million abortions were executed worldwide. Unsurprisingly, 82% of all abortions are performed on unmarried
women. The statistics are staggering. Innocent unborn children are not given the opportunity to laugh, walk, or talk. Instead,
they are destroyed before birth!
Roe of Roe v. Wade desires abortion to be abolished. In 1973, the United States Supreme Court ruled
in Roe v. Wade that abortion is permitted for any reason a woman desires, up until the "point at which the fetus becomes
‘viable.’ In other words, Roe v. Wade allows abortion to take place until the unborn child is able to live outside
the mother's womb, albeit with artificial aid. (Viability is usually placed at about seven months, but it may occur earlier,
even at 24 weeks.) Norma L. McCorvey ("Jane Roe") is now a Christian and a pro-life advocate and she publically
recants her support of abortion. Norma McCorvey is fighting to reverse Roe v. Wade. Clearly, it must be overturned!
In order for abortion to be abolished and, consequently Roe v. Wade overturned, the American people must take action. Instead
of just talking about it and conducting rallies, let's do something. Here are 5 tips for real action:
1.
Support ministries that aid teenage
mothers. Examples
include Bethany Christian Services (www.bethany.org, ), Birthright International (www.birthright.org), Care-Net (www.care-net.org), Christian Life Resources (www.christianliferesources.com) and Life Dynamics (www.lifedynamics.com). Donate time, money to Christian ministries, and help dissuade potential mothers from having abortions.
2. Contact your Congressmen and state legislators and urge
them support anti-abortion legislation. Click here to find your state legislators. Click here to find contact information for your Congressmen.
3.
Write letters to the editor. Make your voice heard about your pro-life position. Explain why abortion is
wrong.
4. Vote for pro-life candidates. Research
and support proven anti-abortion candidates. Help elect pro-life men and women to office.
5. Pray for our politicians and that Roe v. Wade will be repealed.
Pray for the mothers whose hearts were broken by abortion. Pray for families whose tables are not as full as a result
of abortion. Pray for our country.
In conclusion, remember that innocent, unborn children are depending on you to give them a voice. Cry
out for the babies that never cry!
